The boldest expression of classic gothic architecture, the Notre-Dame cathedral in Amiens was built between 1220 and 1280. Offering a vision of remarkable stylistic and iconographic unity, Notre-Dame is listed twice as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, first in 1981 as a building, then again in 1998 as a pilgrimage site on the routes to Santiago de Compostela in France.
